In 1997, Hongkong Land China Holdings Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hongkong Land Holdings Ltd, formed a joint venture company, King Kok Investment Ltd , with Rodamco China B.V. and Crown Pacific Development Ltd . Hongkong Land holds 90% interest in King Kok while Crown Pacific Development Limited holds the remaining 10%.
King Kok then acquired a US$120 million interest in Beijing Riviera, a premium residential development. The investment, comprising 62 apartments, 115 villas and 32 townhouses, was re-branded 'Maple Place at Beijing Riviera', offering a superior luxury finish and additional management services. The development is situated near the Airport Expressway, 15 minutes from the Chaoyang Business District and 10 minutes from Beijing International Airport.
There are a variety of units available, from low-rise apartments to 5,000 sq. ft villas. All leases come with automatic membership of the 5,400 sq. m. Beijing Riviera Country Club, which offers outdoor and indoor pools, gym, sauna and steam bath, as well as three restaurants, a bar, and several shops.
